I suppose one should begin at the beginning, so here goes. I was born December 23, , at Clinton, Kansas, a little village 12 miles southwest of Lawrence. At that time Clinton consisted of a country store, a post office, a grade school, blacksmith, a doctor and three or four houses. The doctor was my father.
I came into the world with Halley's comet, and I always figured I would go out with it; however, Halley's is gone and I'm still here.
