George Edward Bonsor, nado en Lille o 30 de marzo de 1855 e finado en Mairena del Alcor (Sevilla) o 15 de agosto de 1930, foi un coñecedor de antigüidades, pintor, arqueólogo, historiador e ceramólogo nado en Francia, de nacionalidade británica e residente en España. Tamén foi coñecido como Jorge Bonsor por amigos e veciños das localidades andaluzas nas que viviu: Carmona, onde se iniciou como arqueólogo privado e onde foi nomeado fillo predilecto pouco antes do seu falecemento e Mairena del Alcor, onde adquiriu o castelo da localidade para habilitalo posteriormente como a súa propia vivenda.
Foi un gran defensor do mantemento dos xacementos arqueolóxicos e precursor da arqueoloxía moderna en España, ademais de que descubriu numerosos xacementos en Andalucía Occidental, como a necrópole e o anfiteatro de Carmona, os xacementos de Los Alcores, Setefilla en Lora del Río e escavou en Baelo Claudia en Cádiz.
