Madonna turns 66: inside her complex love life and blended family
Madge met actor Sean Penn in 1985, on the set of her music video for 'Material Girl', and the pair quickly fell in love. Their whirlwind romance was passionate, and they married just six months after meeting.
They went on to star alongside each other in the 1986 film Shanghai Surprise, but their marriage was on the rocks.
Madonna filed for divorce in 1987 before withdrawing the petition, and again in 1989 for the sista time, with her rep telling People, "There was no one direkt incident leading up to this."

Madonna is living “la dolce vita” in Italy!
In celebration of her 66th birthday on Aug. 16, the pop icon jetted off to Italy and marked the special occasion with her family, friends and rumored boyfriend Akeem Morris.
The “Like a Virgin” singer offered an inside look at the celebratory activities she got up to in a carousel of 20 photos on Instagram. “La Dolce Vita,” she captioned the post on Monday, Aug. 19. alongside birthday cake, champagne, heart and Italian flag emojis.
Included in the mix of photos were shots from her visit to Pompei, Italy where she attended an event at the Archaeological Park of Pompeii. She spent the evening with members involved in a project called Sogno di Volare, or “I Dream of Flying,” which allows local youth to act in classical performances at the park’s ancient theater.
