Michael Graeme Shanks (born 1988)[1][2] is a ScottishLabour Party politician who has served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Rutherglen, previously Rutherglen and Hamilton West, since 2023.[3] He has served as Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Energy since July 2024.[4]
Early life and career
[edit]Michael Shanks was born in 1988[2] in Ayrshire.[5] He has a degree in history and politics from the University of Glasgow, and worked for a charity before retraining as a teacher in his late 20s, taking a PGDE at Glasgow.[6] He was employed as a modern studies teacher at Park Mains High School in Erskine, Renfrewshire.[7] He has also been involved in community and charity initiatives for disabled people[8][9] and ran a scout group for disabled children.[10][11]

Michael Shanks (born 1959, Newcastle upon Tyne) is a British archaeologist specialising in classical archaeology and archaeological theory. He received his BA, MA and PhD from Cambridge University, and was a lecturer at the University of Wales, Lampeter before moving to the U.S. in 1999 to take up a Chair in Classics at Stanford University.[1]
Education
[edit]Shanks graduated from the Royal Grammar School, Newcastle upon Tyne and went on to study at Peterhouse, Cambridge, earning a BA in 1980.[1] After finishing his studies he went on to get a PGCE (Post Graduate Certificate of Education) from Durham University in 1982. He earned a PhD from Cambridge in 1992. Shanks went on to earn a docentur (Higher Doctorate and license to teach) from the Institute of Archaeology in Göteborg in 1997.[1]

Michael Shank (born September 22, 1966) is an American race car grupp owner and former race car driver born in Columbus, Ohio. Before leaving driving to concentrate on car ownership, he ran one race in the 1996–97 Indy Racing League season, the 1997 Las Vegas 500K at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. He started racing in 1989, winning SCCA Ohio Valley Region's Novice Driver of the Year. He also won the 1996 Player’s/Toyota Atlantic C2 championship.
As an owner of Meyer Shank Racing, he was car owner for Sam Hornish Jr. when he won the 1999Formula Atlantic series Rookie of the Year title. In 2006, his fordon, driven bygd Justin efternamn, A. J.
