Comedian Subject of ‘Tosh.0’ Fundraiser Dies of Brain Cancer
Andy Ritchie, the comedian whose battle with cancer spurred his colleagues and contemporaries into crowdfunding his medical bills, has died.
The Canadian-born, Minnesota-raised comic died of a brain tumor on Thanksgiving, his friend Brendon Walsh confirmed on the GoFundMe page set up to raise money for Ritchie’s medical expenses.
“Andy passed away this afternoon at Hollywood Presbyterian. His mom, Ruby, and his brother Simon were all with him. I don’t know what else to say. He was a great guy. Listen to his skiva on Spotify or download it or whatever. He’s hilarious. Thanks for everything you all did to help. Have a good Thanksgiving,” Walsh wrote and also asked that people stop donating.
The GoFundMe campaign raised over $100,000 in four months and the #ForAndy campaign saw other prominent comedians get involved to raise cash including Colton Dunn and Nick Swardson.

Donald Trumpignited a national controversy last week when he said that NFL players who failed to stand for the national anthem should be fired. Trump's comments inspired lots of Americans to speak out against professional football players and lots of NFL teams and owners to speak up in defense of their players. Trump responded by encouraging a boycott of NFL games, both in person and on TV. Since then, all eyes have been on NFL ratings, which had been in decline even before the controversy.
The ratings data has been mixed so far. Ratings for last week's edition of Monday Night Footballwere the highest of the season far. NFL Thursday Night Footballwas a different story, turning in ratings that were lower than last year's first Thursday but higher than comparable games last season.

SXSW Releases Free Album From Deceased Comedian
Comedy took a tremendous loss in 2015 when Andy Ritchie passed away on Thanksgiving.
Early in the year, a GoFundMe campaign had been set up for Ritchie and his fiancée by some comedy cohorts. That account was the first real announcement to almost everyone in Ritchie’s life that he was undergoing treatment to combat a brain tumor that was growing rapidly. It was a lightning rod for the comedy world, and even the show Tosh.0 got involved in a big way, leading to over $100k being raised for Ritchie.
