    Doom grew up in Thousand Oaks, California, and attended Newbury Park High School, where she met Belinda Carlisle.[4][5]

    Doom was a friend of Germs founders Darby Crash and Pat Smear, and joined despite lack of musical ability, having answered a flyer looking for "two untalented girls" with Carlis

    Doom, born Teresa Ryan, died on Wednesday, and her passing was first revealed on Facebook by former Germs bandmate Don Bolles, who wrote, &#;“She left this mortal coil today around 1.&#;

    Her family later issued a statement to the press confirming the death:

    &#;Teresa Ryan a/k/a Lorna Doom was always a woman of mystery. So much so, that even in her final days as she fought a tough, year-long battle with cancer, very few people even knew she was ill. She kept a very close knit social circle, and those who knew her and loved her always respected her desire for privacy. When she finally lost her struggle with cancer at pm yesterday, Wednesday January 16th,

    On Jan. 16, it was announced on several Facebook posts, including that of Germs drummer Don Bolles, that Germs bassist Lorna Doom, 60, &#;left this mortal coil today around 1.&#; Born Teresa Ryan in , Doom passed away after a short illness. Out of all of the women I have ever known, there was none punker than Lorna. The Germs formed in , and although they had a relatively short run they left their mark as one of the very first punk bands in LA. It&#;s hard to believe she was only seven years older than I am. That seven years meant everything when it comes to punk rock. The Germs were the vanguard.

    The band was featured heavily in the &#;Decline of Western Civilization,&#; and a biographical film came out in , &#;What we do is Secret,&#; starring Shane West. They reformed the Germs for a short time with Shane West singing.
